Flexigy

1 - How to overcome regulatory barriers to employ balance services and cargo flexibility

The consortium created a Virtual Energy Community concept that operates behind the meters, thus overcoming legal barriers. The services were developed in such a way that the aggregator involves energy assets with private bilateral contracts, which allows the use of distributed energy resources in a collaborative way, which in turn generate community benefits significantly greater than the individual optimization of these energy assets.

2 - How to gain end-users' trust for their active participation
The consortium implemented Blockchain technology on the community platform to increase trust and assist in the management of virtual energy transactions.

3 - How to operationalize community optimization mechanisms
The consortium developed the cyber-physical components that ensure system security that satisfies the low-cost requirements needed to be economically viable.

Key Exploitable Results
1 -  Scheduling algorithms for energy communities
2 - Energy communities (already operational on multiple Cleanwatts EC in Portugal and Italy)
